I have a 98 Ford Escort ZX2 automatic transmission, which just had a rebuilt engine put into it after the old one broke. Now whenever I break really hard and come to a sudden stop, I find that the transmission has no power going forward and back. It’s like it’s stuck in neutral. If I wait a few minutes and turn the car off I can restart and the car will go foward or backward. It seems like is slips out of gear into neutral on sudden stops. Anyone know what might be causing this problem?
